For our Client, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) we are currently looking to recruit Nurses for Medical and Surgical Wards.

SASH provides emergency and non-emergency services to the residents of East Surrey, north-east West Sussex, and South Croydon, including the major towns of Crawley, Horsham, Reigate and Redhill; a community of over 535,000 people.

The East Surrey Hospital provides acute and complex services and a range of outpatient and is also the designated major trauma centre for Gatwick Airport.

The hospital is based in Redhill, a large town only 15 minutes train ride from London Gatwick airport and 40 minutes South of Central London with all main amenities of shopping, cinema, Harlequin Theatre, leisure centres, parks, schools, nurseries etc. Find out more about SASH. 

SASH offers a highly competitive relocation package, to include, but not limited to:

  • Salary Band 5 £23,023 gross per annum.
  • Additional 5% of basic salary High Cost Area Supplement.
  • Enhancements for “unsocial” working hours, nights and Saturdays +30%, Sundays and Public (Bank) Holidays +60%.

Recruitment process

The most important thing during the recruitment process is that we establish whether you are eligible for the registration at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in United Kingdom. Here are the basic entry requirements that all candidates MUST prove BEFORE starting NMC application and prior to applying for the above roles:

  • 10 years of school education before starting a post-secondary education nursing training programme.
  • Nursing degree at post-secondary level leading to registration as a general nurse (minimum 3 years in length, containing minimum of 500 hours of clinical practice).
  • English language proficiency under one of the three categories:

1) Providing a proof of achieving a required level of fluency in one of the two NMC approved tests: 

- Academic IELTS 7.0 - a minimum overall level of 7.0 and the individual scores not lower than: Listening 7.0 / Reading 7.0 / Writing 6.5 / Speaking 7.0

OET at B level in all four components.

2) You have a recent pre-registration study which was taught and assessed in English. Recent refers to 'which should not be more than two years old at the time of registration'.

a) A University Transcript of Training, evidence must confirm that at least 50% of programme includes clinical interaction.

b) A letter from the institution completing a NMC form sections 8a & 8b.

3) Registration and practice of at least one year in a country where English is the first and native language and an English language assessment was required for registration.

IELTS - International English Language Testing System is an examination that is solely run at British Council approved/accredited institutions/learning centres all over the World.

OET - Occupational English Test is the English language test designed for the healthcare sector. The NMC will only accept results from the February 2016 test administration onwards.

All successful candidates will be provided with a comprehensive training / induction programme and a mentor. The candidates will have an opportunity to join SASH pending their NMC registration working as Nursing Assistants at Band 3 £20,448 gross per annum.
